Most of the time, cats are noble and gentle, thinking about their lives and quietly accompanying their owners. However, there are also some exceptional cats who are mischievous and restless, and can do many wrong things, such as scratching furniture, defecating and urinating. This requires our training to correct the cat's wrong behavior. So how should we train cats?

1、 Training starts with kittens, correcting mistakes requires focusing on the current situation

Cats must be educated immediately at the scene of making mistakes. Because most cat owners have to go to work, which may not be easy to achieve, it increases the difficulty of correcting the cat's erroneous behavior.

Training should start from the infancy of cats. It is very difficult to correct the bad habits of an cat, but it is relatively easy to prevent them from the beginning. However, with perseverance, any cat can learn some simple behavioral rules.

It is best to start training within a few days after you bring the cat home. During training, hold a water gun or a speaker (you can put some coins in an aluminum can) at hand. Whenever a cat climbs onto a chair or grinds its teeth on furniture, spray it with a water gun or shake the speaker next to it. If you can't keep an eye on it, you should limit its range of activities before leaving home. Do not physically punish cats, as it will only make them afraid of their owners and lose trust.

2、 Create a good environment for stress free training

Do not leave delicious food or things that can arouse the cat's curiosity in places where the cat can find them, such as tables and chairs. This will encourage cats to climb high. If the ground is dirty and messy, or if there are things or animals that cats are afraid of, they have to jump onto furniture and stay there.

Please prepare a paw grinder for your cat. The claw grinder can be wrapped in a rough blanket or a bare wooden stick, depending on the cat's preferences. You can also set up a spot for cats to bask in the sun and enjoy the scenery on the windowsill or other higher places. The greatest pleasure of cats is sitting in the sunshine, enjoying the scenery, and safely understanding the outside world.

When you are not at home, some auxiliary measures can be taken to help cats consolidate good behavior. For example, wrap the scratched parts of furniture in plastic bags or aluminum foil as warning signs. You can also place the speaker on the chair at will, and once the cat jumps on it, it will fall and make a sound. Once such a situation occurs, the owner should strengthen training after returning home.

The good behavior of cats must also be praised. If a cat uses the paw grinder you prepared for it or sits on a designated windowsill, it should be immediately given reward food and praised. The key to training is to make cats feel happy while establishing good behavior. If the methods suggested above do not work, you should reconsider whether you have provided your cat with a living environment that is in line with its heart and nature, and make targeted adjustments.

3、 Train cats to call at once

Cats are solitary and arrogant animals, and it is difficult to make them obey orders when they are unhappy about doing something. But cats are also very obedient animals, and once rules are formed, they will consciously abide by them. So, using this personality of cats to train them can make them obey many commands.

For example, training a cat to "come as soon as possible", standing opposite the cat with a piece of food that the cat likes, making a "come" sound in its mouth, and when the cat comes over, asking the cat to eat the food and lightly pat and caress it to express praise. If the cat refuses to come over, you can show it the food and then give the command to "come". After multiple training sessions, as long as the cat makes a "come" sound, even without food, it will obediently walk over. At this point, further training can be conducted by making a "come" sound to the cat while waving at it. When the cat approaches, a reward will be given to induce a conditioned reflex in the cat. In the future, gradually only wave without making a sound. If the cat can come over, continue to give food encouragement and affection. After a period of training, the cat can feel that this is a rule. As long as the owner waves, the cat will quickly come over.
